Malaysian Government Financial Aid and Assistance Schemes for OKU

All Malaysian citizens with disabilities are encouraged to register as an OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) with the Welfare Department. Details on the OKU registration pathway can be found here. There are seven categories of OKU as per Welfare Department criteria, and persons with autism fall under learning disability.

An autistic person with an OKU card will have access to a range of benefits and privileges (social protection programmes) provided by various government agencies.

Tertiary Education (Diploma and Above)

Financial aid is provided for students with disabilities following tertiary education (Diploma and above) in public institutions of higher learning (IPTA) and private institutions of higher learning (IPTS). Certificate level programmes in polytechnic and community colleges under the purview of the Ministry of Education are also considered for this financial aid.

    ◦ RM3,360.00 per semester for semesters 2 to 4
